ASI held on bribe charge  Shariq Majeed Tribune News Service Sangrur, October 27 A vigilance team from Patiala arrested an assistant sub-inspector while allegedly accepting a bribe from Gurtej Singh of Dirba, who is allegedly involved in a fraud case, from a local hotel here today. Sources said ASI Jaswant Singh, posted at the Dirba police station, who was probing a fraud case, had allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 from Gurtej for hushing up the case. They added that after negotiations, the duo reportedly fixed a deal at Rs 25,000 and Gurtej had to give this money to the ASI at a local hotel here. However, on a tip-off, the team raided the hotel and arrested the ASI while allegedly accepting the money. A case has been registered in the regard.
