Official held for selling TV sets

Rajouri, March 13
Yousuf Khan, an assistant in the Revenue Department, was held today following a complaint by some locals that he was selling television sets and Dish antennas meant for anganwari centres, schools and panchayat ghars in Darhal area.

The police has seized the revenue records related to distribution of these government articles.

Station house officer, Darhal, Shamim Magray said following a complaint by locals, we recovered two TV sets from near tehsil office in the morning. However, persons, to whom the accused had sold these TV sets, escaped from the spot.

A case has been registered against the accused. Revenue Department sources revealed that the department had received TV sets and Dish antennas under a Central scheme for distribution among the anganwadi centres, schools and panchayat ghars in the uncovered areas, having no TV signal.

The Rajouri Deputy Commissioner said the district administration had ordered an inquiry into the matter.
