Man robbed, shot dead in Barnala

Two unidentified persons shot dead a middle-aged man after having robbed him of Rs 94,000 and injured the son of a former municipal councillor in broad daylight, who tried to come to his rescue in vegetable market area of Nanak Pura Muhalla in Dhanola of Barnala today afternoon.
Police sources said that two unidentified motorcycle-borne dacoits shot dead Pargat Singh (35), son of Beant Singh of Dhillon Patti Dhanola area in Barnala while he was returning home on his scooter bearing registration number PB13G-9167 from vegetable market in Nanak Pura Muhalla at 12 during the afternoon today. They added that dacoits also fired at Ravinder Kumar, son of former municipal councilor, Babu Ram, who afterhearing the noise of gun shots came out of his home, injuring him in his thigh area.
Sources further said that immediately after committing the crime, the dacoits fled from the spot.
They added that whereas Pargat died on the spot, the seriously injured Ravinder was later rushed by his relatives to the nearby Community Health Centre (CHC) Dhanola where he is undergoing treatment.

SSP Barnala, HS Bhullar told TNS that police has registered a case under relevant section and is investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, the Dhanaula police registered a case against unidentified persons for murder, attempt to murder, robbery with common intention under section 302, 307, 392, 34 of the IPC and 25, 27, 54, 59 of the Arms Act and has launched manhunt.
