Forest fire along LoC

Forest fire along the LoC, which reportedly started from the border, spread to the outskirts of three villages - Kanga Gali,

Panjni and forward Balakote sector in Poonch district - this morning. There were reports of 50 mine blasts due to heat generated from the fire in these areas whereas the unconfirmed reports put the number at more than 200.

Local sources said the fire, which spread to this side in Dabbi forest area, reportedly started from PoK. They further said though there was no loss of lives or property, the fire was “uncontrollable” and was threatening the lives and property of villagers. Forest official Shamim Ahmed said the fire started from PoK. Army sources maintained that the Army had succeeded in controlling the fire. — TNS
