Army contains forest fire

A few days after the fire reached near three villages--Kanga Gali, Panjni and forward Balakote-- along the LoC in this district, local sources said the Army had managed to prevent the fire from spreading to this side in the Dabbi forest area.

The sources said the Army had dug a horizontal line near the outer boundary of the fire-affected area to prevent the fire from spreading. Besides, the Army is also using water to contain the fire.

However, the sources said the district administration had failed to take measures to contain the fire as fire-prevention and emergency services personnel hadn’t visit the area.

An officer in the local administration, however, claimed that they could not do much in the area as it was in the control of the Army.
